Come worship with us on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 9:30 am. Pastor Brett’s topic is “Nothing Can Separate Us from God’s Love.” Our call to worship is based on 1 Chronicles 16:31-36. Scriptures for the day are Psalm 5:7-12, Romans 8:31-39, and Genesis 28:10-19.
Synopsis: In our passage for Sunday, Jacob is seen running in fear from his brother Esau. Jacob is also running from his sin before God. If you recall, Jacob, the younger twin brother of the oldest Esau, was promised the birthright from God. God was going to make Jacob greater than Esau; God promised him that. Rather than wait for God to make that happen, Esau conspired with his mother Rebekah to steal the birthright.
Once Esau found out that Jacob had stolen his birthright, he was angry and wanted revenge. So Jacob followed the command of his father and mother and left them for his Uncle’s land. On the surface he is fleeing, his brother, but in reality, he is attempting to flee from his sin.
This leads to the question; how do we respond when we sin? How do we see God in our sin?
