March 10 Worship: Born Again

Worship with us this March 10, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. Pastor Brett’s sermon is entitled “Born Again.” Our scriptures include Numbers 21:4-9, John 3:1-13, and John 3:14-21.

Synopsis: Today we examine Jesus’ discussion with Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council who is curious and trying hard to believe in Jesus’ teachings. Nicodemus confesses Jesus is from God, based on the signs He is performing. Jesus talks about a number of things with Nicodemus, including the need to be born again. We’ll look primarily at what it means to be born again in the sermon today.

March 3 “All About the Kingdom of God”

Worship with us this March 3, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. Pastor Brett’s topic is “All About the Kingdom of God.” Our scriptures are Psalm 91:1-4, 2 Samuel 15:13-17, and Luke 13:31-35.

Synopsis: Today we continue our journey through Lent, preparing to experience Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection. Today we experience Jesus weeping over Jerusalem, sad that most of the Jewish leadership and Jewish people have rejected Him and His ministry. The passage begs us to ask the question, does our life lead to Jesus, the cross, and the Kingdom of God, or are we more established in the world?

Worship on February 25 – God’s Plan

Join us this Sunday, February 25, 2024 for worship with Pastor Brett. His sermon is titled “God’s Plan” and the scriptures include Psalm 22:26-30, Isaiah 55:6-9, and Mark 8:31-38.

Our passage today tells of Jesus explaining to the disciples how His kingdom on earth would come to be. This wasn’t the picture that the Jewish people had in mind when they pictured the coming Messiah. Peter, in haste and disbelief, pulls Jesus aside and starts to rebuke Jesus. Jesus then rebukes Peter and explains that his thoughts are earthly and not divine. Do we ever make that mistake, focusing on earthly things, and not divine things as Jesus stated to Peter?

February 18th Worship: Presence of God

Join us this Sunday, February 18, 2024 for worship with Pastor Brett as he finishes our look at the 23rd Psalm. Our scriptures include 1 Peter 5:4-10, Hebrews 13:20-25, and, of course, Psalm 23.

Synopsis: This Sunday we will look at the remainder of the 23 Psalm. We see more thoughts that relate to the metaphor of Jesus as our shepherd. We are reminded that God is always there, always present with us, in all circumstances. We’ll explore what God preparing a table in the presence of our enemies is all about. We are also reminded that in holding firm in our faith, we will dwell with God forever and ever.

Sunday, January 21st: Expectations

This may all look familiar, as we canceled service on the 14th:

Worship with us at Community Church this Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. Pastor Brett’s topic is “Expectations.” Our scriptures include Hosea 11:1-4, Matthew 2:1-12, and Matthew 2:13-23.

Synopsis: We enter each year with certain expectations and sometimes they become reality, but often we are taken down a different path. Certainly, that was the case for Joseph and Mary. No way did they expect to have a child and no way could they have foreseen a year or so before, their being sent now to Egypt to avoid Herod’s wrath. Hosea prophesied this would happen, but no one could see this little known, prophetic statement prior to the events surrounding Jesus’ birth and childhood. We will all face detours in life, the question is, how do we respond, who do we lean on when these detours occur?
