“That is not Fair!” Sunday, August 4 worship

Worship with us on Sunday, August 4 at 9:30 a.m. Pastor Brett’s topic is “That Is Not Fair!” with scriptures that include Romans 4:1-8, Luke 23:32-43, and Matthew 20:1-16. We will celebrate communion this week.

This coming Sunday, we study another of Jesus’ parables focusing on the Kingdom of God. In the Parable of the Vineyard Workers we see God’s grace displayed in a way that many people feel is not fair. I’m not sure who said it, but it fits this parable, “few things seem more unequal than the equal treatment of unequals.” Today we’ll look at God’s grace and even ask whether it is fair.

Wheat or Weeds? Worship on Sunday, July 7

Worship with us on Sunday, July 7. Pastor Brett’s topic is “Wheat or Weeds?” Our scriptures include Acts 20:28-31, Matthew 13:24-30, and Matthew 13:31-43.

Synopsis: Jesus tells a series of three parables, wheat and weeds, mustard seed, and the yeast. Fortunately, Jesus goes into detail, explaining nearly every part of the parable to His disciples. These details help us with answers to some common questions many Christians ask. Why does God allow evil to grow and seemingly succeed? All of us at one time or another have wanted to and perhaps have judged others. We’ll explore these and other thoughts and questions this coming Sunday as we explore these parables.

Worship: The Great Banquet – have you accepted the invitation?

Worship with us on this Sunday, June 30, 2024! Pastor Brett’s topic is “The Great Banquet: Have You Accepted the Invitation?” Our scriptures include Isaiah 25:1-9, Luke 14:15-24, then Luke 14:1-14.

Synopsis: This Sunday we will look at the Parable of the Great Banquet. In the parable, a man planned a large banquet and sent out invitations. When the banquet was ready, he sent his servant to contact each of the invited guests, telling them that all was ready, and the meal was about to start (verses 16-17). One after another, the guests made excuses for not coming. We examine in depth what the parable represents; the banquet, the excuses, the reaction of the Master, and what it all means to us.
