March 10 Worship: Born Again

Worship with us this March 10, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. Pastor Brett’s sermon is entitled “Born Again.” Our scriptures include Numbers 21:4-9, John 3:1-13, and John 3:14-21.

Synopsis: Today we examine Jesus’ discussion with Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council who is curious and trying hard to believe in Jesus’ teachings. Nicodemus confesses Jesus is from God, based on the signs He is performing. Jesus talks about a number of things with Nicodemus, including the need to be born again. We’ll look primarily at what it means to be born again in the sermon today.

March 3 “All About the Kingdom of God”

Worship with us this March 3, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. Pastor Brett’s topic is “All About the Kingdom of God.” Our scriptures are Psalm 91:1-4, 2 Samuel 15:13-17, and Luke 13:31-35.

Synopsis: Today we continue our journey through Lent, preparing to experience Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection. Today we experience Jesus weeping over Jerusalem, sad that most of the Jewish leadership and Jewish people have rejected Him and His ministry. The passage begs us to ask the question, does our life lead to Jesus, the cross, and the Kingdom of God, or are we more established in the world?

Worship on February 25 – God’s Plan

Join us this Sunday, February 25, 2024 for worship with Pastor Brett. His sermon is titled “God’s Plan” and the scriptures include Psalm 22:26-30, Isaiah 55:6-9, and Mark 8:31-38.

Our passage today tells of Jesus explaining to the disciples how His kingdom on earth would come to be. This wasn’t the picture that the Jewish people had in mind when they pictured the coming Messiah. Peter, in haste and disbelief, pulls Jesus aside and starts to rebuke Jesus. Jesus then rebukes Peter and explains that his thoughts are earthly and not divine. Do we ever make that mistake, focusing on earthly things, and not divine things as Jesus stated to Peter?

February 18th Worship: Presence of God

Join us this Sunday, February 18, 2024 for worship with Pastor Brett as he finishes our look at the 23rd Psalm. Our scriptures include 1 Peter 5:4-10, Hebrews 13:20-25, and, of course, Psalm 23.

Synopsis: This Sunday we will look at the remainder of the 23 Psalm. We see more thoughts that relate to the metaphor of Jesus as our shepherd. We are reminded that God is always there, always present with us, in all circumstances. We’ll explore what God preparing a table in the presence of our enemies is all about. We are also reminded that in holding firm in our faith, we will dwell with God forever and ever.

February 4 Worship: Presence of God

Join us this Sunday, February 4, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. to worship our Lord and Savior! Pastor Brett’s topic is “Presence of God” and our scriptures are John 10:11-18, Matthew 28:16-20, and Psalm 23.

Synopsis: Today we begin a two-part series on Psalm 23. Psalms express many thoughts; lament, cries for help, praise, and trust, as we see in Psalm 23. All the Psalms express God’s presence with us and His glory. Today we will look at the thoughts expressed in the first half of Psalm 23.

Hosting Community Table Meals on Tuesdays

Community Church, along with other area churches, provides a free hot meal to the Mason County, Michigan area each Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Come to our church dining room, downstairs in our church at 109 North Harrison Street in Ludington, Michigan, and be our guest. The dining room is handicap accessible from the southeast door on Harrison Street.

Scholarship Application 2024/2025

The application period is closed for this school year. Scholarship recipients will be contacted in the middle of May.

Community Church Scholarship Application for Educational Assistance

Guidelines: 

* Applicants must have grown up or currently reside in Mason County, Michigan.

* Applicants must plan to attend a two (2)-year community college, a four (4)-year college or university, or an accredited vocational or trade school.

* Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the college, not the student. The scholarship funds will be issued to the college or university upon receiving a certificate of enrollment for the fall semester, which includes the Student ID number and Financial Aid Office address.

* Applications must be received by Community Church no later than Monday, April 8th, 2024. Late applications will not be accepted.

The applications will be reviewed and recipients selected by the Community Church’s Scholarship Committee.  The scholarships will be awarded in June of 2023.  Submission of this application also gives permission to make the applicant’s name and scholarship type public.

Worship with us at Community Church this Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. Pastor Brett’s topic is “Expectations.” Our scriptures include Hosea 11:1-4, Matthew 2:1-12, and Matthew 2:13-23.

Synopsis: We enter each year with certain expectations and sometimes they become reality, but often we are taken down a different path. Certainly, that was the case for Joseph and Mary. No way did they expect to have a child and no way could they have foreseen a year or so before, their being sent now to Egypt to avoid Herod’s wrath. Hosea prophesied this would happen, but no one could see this little known, prophetic statement prior to the events surrounding Jesus’ birth and childhood. We will all face detours in life, the question is, how do we respond, who do we lean on when these detours occur?
