Living Like Jesus: Sunday, October 6, 2024

Join us to worship the Lord this Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. Pastor Brett’s topic is “Living Like Jesus.” Our scriptures include John 3:16-21, Colossians 3:1-5, and Ephesians 5:1-10

Synopsis: Here at the beginning of Ephesians 5, Paul confronts us with perhaps the most astounding challenge in all of scripture. Paul tells us not just to follow God’s example, but to walk in the way of Christ. That is, to be imitators of Christ Jesus in the way we live our lives.

So the first question one must ask is this, “Do I believe that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior – Have you accepted Him as Lord and Savior in your life?”

If one has, one then needs to ask in light of our passage from Ephesians, how does one follow Jesus, how does one walk in the way of Jesus? We’ll explore what Paul has to say to encourage and challenge us this Sunday.

Synopsis: Scripture tells us that Jesus’ mission when He came to earth was to seek the lost, restore the lost, equip people for discipleship, and then send out disciples with the power to fulfill their calling.

We’ll walk through Jesus teaching on discipleship; how difficult the work will be and the many gifts that God provides to make this calling possible.

September 18: Witnessing with Authority

Worship with us and 9:30 a.m. this Sunday, September 15, 2024. Pastor Brett’s topic is “Witnessing with Authority” with scriptures that include 1 Corinthians 1:26-31, Deuteronomy 18:15-20, and Mark 1: 21-28.

Synopsis: God’s people often lived in, not just respectful fear of the Lord, but in terror of the Lord. God’s power and glory was seen as so overwhelming that they did not want to hear directly from God, so they asked God for a representative, a prophet. God’s people knew they couldn’t live without God, but they didn’t want to live in fear every time they heard from the Lord.

Our Sunday passage from Deuteronomy 18 tells us that God will send a prophet, an Israelite like them. God sent many prophets to speak for him, including His Son Jesus. Our passage from Mark 1 tells how the people responded to Jesus’ teaching and how He was different.
