Father’s Day Worship: The Father’s Love

Worship with us on this Father’s Day Sunday, June 16 at 9:30 a.m. Pastor Brett Spalding’s sermon topic is “The Father’s Love.” Our scriptures include 2 Corinthians 5:17-21, Luke 23:35-43, and Luke 15:11-32.

Synopsis: In this parable, Jesus truly seeks to emphasize the loving character of God; While people on earth tend to question the sincerity of the repentant – God does not – God freely forgives the sinful who are repentant. Second, Jesus wants Christians to celebrate with those who are repentant, Jesus wants us to celebrate with those who lost their way and then responded to the message of the Gospel.

Jesus wants us all to know that when we lose our way; when we stray; when we squander all we have and sin in despicable ways; that we can come home. When we are at our lowest points in life; we can call on God and know that God will not be there judging the sincerity of our repentance; but rejoicing that we come to him, barefoot like a slave, thirsting for his forgiving water; knowing that God is waiting to throw a party to celebrate the return of one who was lost.
