Our passage today tells of Jesus explaining to the disciples how His kingdom on earth would come to be. This wasn’t the picture that the Jewish people had in mind when they pictured the coming Messiah. Peter, in haste and disbelief, pulls Jesus aside and starts to rebuke Jesus. Jesus then rebukes Peter and explains that his thoughts are earthly and not divine. Do we ever make that mistake, focusing on earthly things, and not divine things as Jesus stated to Peter?
